⤢ Full screenWake! O my soul, and hail the morn;
For unto us a Saviour's born:
See how the angels wing their way
To usher in the glorious day!
Hark! what sweet music! what a song
Sounds from the bright, celestial throng!
Sweet song, whose melting strains impart
Joy to each raptured, listening heart.
Come, join the angels as they cry,
"Glory to God who reigns on high;
Let peace and love on earth abound,
While spheres revolve and years roll round."
About this hymn
As printed Words only. As printed: hymn number «285» (large) in the left column of p. 93, below hymn 284 (HARMONY GROVE. L. M.), with the reference line «108, 212, 197.» (italic) beside it; «Anon.» in italics after stanza 3. The first word «WAKE» is set in capitals and small capitals. The print sets a thin space before «!», «;» and «:» («WAKE !», «morn ;», «born :», «day !», «Hark !», «music !», «throng !», «high ;»); it is closed up here. The apostrophe of «Saviour's» and the quotation marks of stanza 3 are written straight. The last verse of stanza 3 is broken by the narrow column («years roll / round."»); it is joined here. Spelling, punctuation and capitals are the print's. No meter is printed (the text is L. M., like its three reference tunes).
