1

O wondrous type! O vision fairOf glory that the church shall share,Which Christ upon the mountain shows,Where brighter than the sun he glows!

2

From age to age the tale declare,How with the three disciples there,Where Moses and Elias meet,The Lord holds converse high and sweet.

3

With shining face and bright array,Christ deigns to manifest to-dayWhat glory shall be theirs above,Who live below in perfect love.

4

And faithful hearts are raised on highBy this great vision's mystery; For which in joyful strains we raiseThe voice of prayer, the hymn of praise.

About this hymn

As printed Words only. As printed: hymn number «306» (large) with the reference line «212, 58, 301.» in italics beside it (sing to the tune of hymn 212, 58 or 301), at the top of the right column of p. 101, below the music of hymn 304; four stanzas, then «Sarum Breviary.» in italics (the source of the text, as printed). The opening «O» is a full capital and «WONDROUS» is set in small capitals. The stanza numbers are printed without a period («1» … «4»); they are written «1.» … here, as in the other deliveries of this book. The print sets a thin space before «!» and «;» («type !», «glows !», «mystery ;»); it is closed up here. The printer's curly apostrophe is written straight («vision's»). «to-day» is hyphenated as printed. All four lines of each stanza are set flush in this hymn (no indentation). No meter is printed (the text is L. M., like the referenced tunes). Spelling, punctuation and capitals are the print's.
