⤢ Full screenAll you that are weary and sad, come; And you that are cheerful and glad, come;In robes of humility clad, come; The Saviour invites you to-day.
Let youth in its freshness and bloom, come;Let man in the pride of his noon come;Let age on the verge of the tomb come;Let none in his pride stay away.
Let the halt, and the maimed, and the blind come;Let all who are freely inclined come; With humble and peaceable mind, comeAway from the waters of strife.
The Spirit and Bride freely say, Come!Let him that now heareth it say, Come!Let all that are thirsty, to-day come,And drink of the Fountain of Life.
About this hymn
As printed As printed: on p. 138, running head «THE SINNER—WARNING AND INVITATION.»; hymn number «426» (large), tune name «FOUNTAIN OF LIFE. P. M.» centred over the music (condensed capitals and small capitals), «UNKNOWN.» at the right (capitals and small capitals), and under the number, in italics, «Other stanzas on opposite page.». Stanza 1 is interlinear: one line under system 1 («1. All you that are wea - ry and sad, come, And you that are cheer-ful and glad, come;»), and under system 2 — between repeat signs, with first and second endings — two identical lines between braces, the upper ending «to-day.» (first ending), the lower ending «(omit.)» (italic) followed, right of the brace and under the second ending, by «to - day.» (see `lyrics_syllables.txt`). The stanzas are printed on p. 139 (right column, below hymn 427) under the heading «[See No. 426, on opposite page.]» (italic, in square brackets) with «P. M.» at the right; stanza 1 there repeats the words sung under the music, with «sad, come;» where the interlinear line has «sad, come,». The stanzas below follow p. 139. The first word of stanza 1, «ALL», is in small capitals (written «All»). Stanza 3 line 1 is broken by the column width («come;» turned onto the next line, indented); it is joined to its verse here. In stanza 2 the second «n» of «noon» is a broken letter (it prints like «:ı»); it is the word «noon». «Anon.» in bold italics after stanza 4. The stanza numbers are printed without a full stop; they are numbered «1.» … here. The print sets a thin space before «;» and «!» («come ;», «Come !»); it is closed up here. Lines 4 of each stanza are indented in the print. Spelling, punctuation and capitals are the print's («Saviour», «to-day», «heareth»).
