⤢ Full screenHow happy every child of grace,Who knows his sins forgiven!This earth, he cries, is not my place,I seek my place in heaven;
A country far from mortal sight,Yet, O, by faith I seeThe land of rest, the saint's delight,The heaven prepared for me.
O what a blessed hope is ours!While here on earth we stayWe more than taste the heavenly powers,And antedate that day.
We feel the resurrection near,Our life in Christ concealed,And with his glorious presence hereOur earthen vessels filled.
On him with rapture I shall gaze,Who bought the bliss for me,And shout and wonder at his graceThrough all eternity.
About this hymn
As printed Words only. As printed: hymn number «679» (large) in the right column of p. 220, under «Anon.» of hymn 678, with the italic reference line «395, 546.» (= sing to the tunes of hymns 395 or 546) beside the number. Five stanzas numbered «1»–«5» without a full stop (written «1.»–«5.» here), the second and fourth lines of each stanza indented (kept here). The first word «How» is set in ordinary type (no small capitals). Two stray marks are not reproduced: a small tick between «O,» and «by» in stanza 2 and a raised dot after «stay» in stanza 3 (see `uncertainties.md`). «Charles Wesley.» in italics after stanza 5. The print's thin space before «!» and «;» is closed up; apostrophes are written straight. No meter is printed (the text is C. M., like the tunes referred to). Spelling, punctuation and capitals are the print's.
