⤢ Full screenDear Saviour, here we fainting lie,And long to see thy face;Descend, O Jesus, from on high,In mercy to our race.
How long shall that bright hour delay? When will our Lord appear? We long to see the glorious dayWhen Jesus will draw near.
We wait to see our Lord descend,Arrayed in robes of light; To Satan's kingdom put an end,And claim his proper right.
We long to hear the trumpet sound,And see the just arise; We long to see our Saviour crowned,And meet him in the skies.
About this hymn
As printed Words only. As printed: hymn number «802» (large) in the left column of p. 263, under hymn 801 («Thomas Hastings.»), with the reference line «179, 354, 943.» in italic figures beside it (sing to the tunes of hymns 179 ORTONVILLE, 354 WOODLAND or 943 LILLIE, all C. M.; no meter is printed — the four lines 8.6.8.6 are C. M., like the referenced tunes). Stanzas numbered «1»–«4» without periods (written «1.»–«4.» here, as in the other deliveries of this book); lines 2 and 4 indented. The first word «DEAR» is set in capitals and small capitals; written «Dear». «Anon.» in italics, right-aligned, at the foot of the column. The print sets a thin space before «;» and «?» («face ;», «delay ?», «appear ?»); it is closed up here. Spelling («Saviour», «Arrayed»), punctuation and capitals are the print's.
