⤢ Full screenTime now is closing; Jesus will come:Signs are fulfilling, earth's pillars groan:Hark! hear the trumpet calls "come home;"—See earth reeling to her final doom.
See slumbering millions rise from the earth;Christ calls his people from south, from north:"Come home, my people, time is no more; You've washed your robes white, your conflicts now are o'er."
Hastening to see thee, my soul would riseTo meet my Saviour in yonder skies; With all the faithful who've lived before,There I shall hail thee on that peaceful shore.
O, there'll be glory, joy, peace, and love;Nothing to harm us in heaven above:O, let us be faithful, and we'll be blest,When Jesus calls us to eternal rest.
About this hymn
As printed As printed: running head «MISCELLANEOUS—OLD MELODIES.»; hymn number «1174» (large), tune name «TIME NOW IS CLOSING,» centred over the music (condensed capitals and small capitals; it ends with a comma, kept as printed), «ARRANGED.» at the right; no meter and no reference line. Stanza 1 is interlinear, in a bold face, one line per system: «1. Time now is clos - ing; Je - sus will come: Signs are ful - fill - ing, earth's pil - lars groan:» and «Hark! hear the trump - et calls "come home;"—See earth reel - ing to her fi - nal doom.» (the print has no space after the comma of «ing,» and curly quotation marks). Stanza 1 below is assembled as verse lines; the hyphenated words are written whole. Stanzas 2–4 follow as text: stanza 2 and the first two lines of stanza 3 in the left column, the last two lines of stanza 3 and stanza 4 in the right column; numbered «2», «3», «4» without a full stop (numbered «2.»–«4.» here like stanza 1). The fourth line of stanza 2 is turned over in the print («your con- / flicts now are o'er."») — one line here. «Anon.» in bold italics at the right after stanza 4. The print sets a thin space before «;» and «:» («earth ;», «north :», «more ;», «skies ;», «love ;», «above :») and before the apostrophe of «You 've», «there 'll», «we 'll»; it is closed up here. Spelling, punctuation and capitals are the print's.
