We shall rise, we shall rise,When the mighty trumpet rends the azure skies; We shall rise, we shall rise,In the resurrection morning we shall rise.

Tenor and bass, under the chorus:hallelujah! hallelujah!we shall rise,Yes the dead in Christ shall rise, all the dead in Christ shall rise,

We feel the advent glory; while the vision seems to tarryWe will comfort one another with the words of Holy Writ.

3

By faith we can discover that our warfare'll soon be over,And we'll shortly hail each other, on fair Canaan's happy shore.

4

We will tell the pleasing story, when we meet our friends in glory,And we'll keep ourselves all ready for to hail the Heavenly King.

About this hymn

As printed As printed: running head «MISCELLANEOUS—OLD MELODIES.»; hymn number «1175» (large), tune name «RESURRECTION MORNING.» centred over the music (condensed capitals and small capitals), «ARRANGED.» at the right; no meter and no reference line. Stanza 1 is printed under the first system of music as one line: «1. In the resurrection morning we shall see the Saviour coming, And the sons of God a-shouting in the Kingdom of the Lord.» Systems 2–3 carry the chorus, headed «Chorus.», with two lyric lines: the upper line is sung by the treble (soprano and alto), the lower line by the tenor and bass, which answer while the treble holds. Stanzas 2–4 follow as text in two columns, numbered «2», «3», «4» without a full stop (numbered «2.»–«4.» here like stanza 1), each stanza in two long lines whose ends are turned over in the print (one line here for each); «Anon.» in bold italics at the right after stanza 4. The chorus is printed once, after stanza 1. The print sets a thin space before «;» («glory ;», «skies ;») and before the apostrophe of «warfare 'll» and «we 'll keep»; it is closed up here. Spelling, punctuation and capitals are the print's (stanza 2, line 1 ends «tarry» without punctuation). Pen marks of the scanned copy (a note in the top margin, underlinings in stanza 2) are not part of the print and are recorded only in `uncertainties.md`.
