About this hymn

As printed As printed: hymn number «1192» (large) at the left, title «I WILL SING OF JESUS' LOVE.» centred (capitals and small capitals, «I Will Sing of Jesus' Love.»); under it two Scripture epigraphs in one paragraph of two lines (given below); «F. E. B.» (the words) at the left and «F. E. BELDEN.» (the music, capitals and small capitals) at the right, above system 1; «REFRAIN.» in bold capitals above system 3; «Copyrighted 1886 by F. E. Belden.» centred at the foot of the music, folio «410» below it. No running head on this page (the department heading «SPECIAL DEPARTMENT. (BIBLE SONGS.)» stands over hymn 1191 on the facing page, p. 409); no meter, no tune name other than the title, no reference line. All four stanzas are interlinear, between the staves of systems 1–2, numbered «1.»–«4.» before the first line; the REFRAIN is printed once, under systems 3–4, and is sung after every stanza. Each printed line of words carries two verse lines; they are given here one verse line per line. Every half-line opens with a group of words echoed at once in parentheses in a smaller condensed type («I will sing (I will sing) of …»): the echo is part of the sung text (alto and tenor, or tenor and bass, sing it — see uncertainties.md) and is kept here as printed. «had dimmed mine eyes,» (stanza 2) and «faint prayer could rise,» are set in a condensed face to fit; «my love» (stanza 4) is printed in italics. The print sets a thin space before «;», «!» and «?» («me ;», «flow ;», «divine !», «done ;», «bestow ?», «give ;»); it is closed up here. Interlinear «Nothing», «divine», «bestow», «Endless» are printed unhyphenated over two notes; «Je - sus'», «a - bove», «nev - er», «Cal - va - ry» are joined. The «m» of «my heart» (stanza 4) is damaged in the print («ıny») and is read «my». The echo «(O the depths)» is set with a condensed capital O that looks like a zero. Spelling («heav'n»), punctuation and capitals are the print's; apostrophes and quotation marks are written straight.
