⤢ Full screenThere's no other name like Jesus,'Tis the dearest name we know,'Tis the angel's joy in heaven,'Tis the Christian's joy below.
Sweet name (sweet name), dear name (dear name),There's no other name like Jesus;Sweet name (sweet name), dear name (dear name),There's no other name like Jesus.
There's no other name like JesusWhen the heart with grief is sad,There's no other name like JesusWhen the heart is free and glad.
'Tis the hope that I shall see himWhen in glory he appears,'Tis the hope to hear his welcomeThat my fainting spirit cheers.
If he wills that I should laborIn his vineyard day by day,Then 'tis well if only JesusBlesses all I do or say.
If he wills that death's cold fingerTouch my feeble, mortal clay,Then 'tis well if only JesusIs my dying trust and stay.
About this hymn
As printed As printed: no running head on p. 446 (the page opens with the hymn); hymn number «1228» (large, left), title «There's no Other Name Like Jesus.» centred (condensed capitals and small capitals, «no» wholly in small capitals); under it, centred in two lines, the epigraph «"Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved."—Acts 4 : 12.» (old-style figures); on the next line «F. E. B.» at the left (words) and «F. E. BELDEN.» at the right (music, capitals and small capitals). No meter, no tune name other than the title, no reference line (stanzas 8.7.8.7). All five stanzas are interlinear, numbered «1.»–«5.», between the staves of systems 1–2; «REFRAIN.» (bold capitals) stands over system 3, and the refrain words are printed once, under systems 3–4, with the tenor and bass echo «(sweet name),» «(dear name),» inside the same line in a small condensed type; the refrain is sung after every stanza. Under the music, centred: «Copyrighted 1886 by F. E. Belden.». Each printed line of words carries two verse lines; they are given here one verse line per line, and each refrain line is split after the echo «(dear name),». The words divided under the notes are joined here («oth-er», «Je-sus», «vine-yard», «Chris-tian's», «Bless-es» → «other», «Jesus», «vineyard», «Christian's», «Blesses»); the divisions are in `lyrics_syllables.txt`. Stanza 4, line 4 has the figure «1» where the pronoun «I» is meant («Blesses all 1 do or say.») — kept as printed (a wrong sort; see `uncertainties.md`). The print sets a thin space before «;» and «:» («Je - sus ;», «other :»); it is closed up here; curly quotes and apostrophes are written straight («'Tis», «'tis», «There's», «death's»). Spelling and punctuation are the print's.
