About this hymn
As printed As printed: hymn number «1290» (large, left), title «Come, Sinner, Come!» centred (condensed bold capitals and small capitals); under it the epigraph «"Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."—Matt. 11 : 28.» (roman, old-style figures); on the next line «WILL E. WITTER.» at the left (words) and «H. R. PALMER, by per.» at the right (music), in capitals and small capitals. No meter, no tune name other than the title, no tempo word and no reference line are printed. The three stanzas are interlinear, numbered «1.» «2.» «3.» before the first syllable of system 1, three lines of words between the staves of all three systems; there is no chorus. Under the music, centred: «Copyrighted 1879 by H. R. Palmer.». Each printed line of words follows the staff, not the verse (system 1 breaks after «While we are / Jesus will / Come and re-», system 2 after «to own him, / deceive you, / whispers to you,»); the stanzas are given here in their eight verse lines, «re- / ceive» joined to «receive». The words divided under the notes are joined here («Je - sus», «whis-pers», «heav - y», «lad - en», «ten - der», «plead-ing», «sin - ner», «pray-ing», «bur-den», «bless-ing», «de-ceive», «re - deem» → «Jesus», «whispers», «heavy», «laden», «tender», «pleading», «sinner», «praying», «burden», «blessing», «deceive», «redeem»); the divisions are in `lyrics_syllables.txt`. The print sets a thin space before «!» and «?» («come !», «lad - en ?») and around the colon of the reference («11 : 28»); it is closed up here; the curly quotation marks are written straight. Spelling («labor»), capitals (the pronoun «him» in lower case) and punctuation are the print's — «O hear» without a comma, «heavy laden?» without a hyphen (see `uncertainties.md`).
