⤢ Full screenLift up the trumpet, and loud let it ring;Jesus is coming again!Cheer up, ye pilgrims, be joyful and sing;Jesus is coming again!
Coming again, coming again,Jesus is coming again!
Echo it, hill-tops, proclaim it, ye plains;Jesus is coming again!Coming in glory, the Lamb that was slain;Jesus is coming again!
Sound it, old ocean, in each mighty wave;Jesus is coming again!Break on the sands of the shores that ye lave;Jesus is coming again!
Heavings of earth, tell the vast, wond'ring throng;Jesus is coming again!Tempests and whirlwinds, the anthem prolong;Jesus is coming again!
Nations are angry,—by this we do knowJesus is coming again!Knowledge increases; men run to and fro;Jesus is coming again!
About this hymn
As printed As printed: hymn number «1330» (large, left), title «JESUS IS COMING AGAIN.» centred (condensed capitals and small capitals, «Jesus is Coming Again.»); on the next line «JESSIE E. STROUT.» at the left (the words, capitals and small capitals), the epigraph «"The day of the Lord cometh, it is nigh at hand."—Joel 2 : 1.» in the middle (old-style figures, a period after the «1») and «GEO. E. LEE.» at the right (the music). No meter, no tune name other than the title, no reference line, no copyright notice. All five stanzas are interlinear, numbered «1.»–«5.» in system 1 (the period after «2» looks like a comma — damaged sort or ink), between the staves of systems 1–2; each printed line carries two verse lines, given here one verse line per line. «CHORUS.» (bold capitals) stands over system 3, with one line of words. Stanza 1 prints «com ing» without its hyphen in system 2 (printer's slip; the word is «coming»). «wond'ring» (stanza 4) is set in a smaller condensed type; «proclaim», «mighty», «Heavings», «pilgrims», «whirlwinds», «prolong», «Knowledge» are printed unbroken under two notes; «hill-tops» has a hyphen. The print sets a thin space before «;» and «!» («ring ;», «again !», «Joel 2 : 1.»); it is closed up here; curly quotes and apostrophes are written straight. Spelling and punctuation are the print's.
